Sculpture on the Pan Am Clipper Hangar
Treasure Island was built to house the Golden Gate International Exposition in 1939. The artwork shown here sits on the front of one of two giant hangars that were built on the south side of the island for Pan Am China Clippers that flew out of Treasure Island which was Pan Am’s main airfield in the SF/Bay Area at the time.
